Wally Gowen is a man at the center of his neighborhood, sitting on his stoop daily and interacting with those in his community. This is his story. Published by MaineToday.com Produced during a one week multimedia intensive at The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine.
This video documents the Portland Lullaby Project: the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s journey to bring local families closer together through music. By partnering PSO musicians with local songwriters, arrangers, and local mothers, teams worked creatively to create personalized lullabies for babies and babies-to-be of Portland, Maine! Created by Carnegie Hall's Musical Connections program, “Lullaby” is a creative experience that helps young women and their partners imagine themselves as parents, bond with their babies, and establish positive support networks. The Portland Lullaby Project was a musical community collaboration between the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Maine Medical Partners' Population Health Team, Birth Roots, Coffee By Design, the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies, the State Theatre, Carnegie Hall, and the 204 supporters of the Portland Lullaby Project Kickstarter campaign.
